{"id":1206,"date":"2006-11-29T10:47:07","date_gmt":"2006-11-29T15:47:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/catchingfireflies.com\/blog\/?p=1206"},"modified":"2006-11-29T10:47:07","modified_gmt":"2006-11-29T15:47:07","slug":"mixed_chip_cook","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.catchingfirefliesgifts.com\/blog\/2006\/11\/mixed_chip_cook\/","title":{"rendered":"mixed chip cookies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This recipe was submitted for our cookie contest by Cathy Nash of Danielsville, Georgia.&nbsp; This recipe is special to her for several reasons&#8230;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"COLOR: black\"><span face=\"Times New Roman\">First, the recipe is quick and easy to make, and almost foolproof; which is always a bonus for the &quot;cooking impaired.&quot;&nbsp; (Even if the cookies are slightly overbaked, they still taste great!)&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"COLOR: black\"><\/p>\n<p><span face=\"Times New Roman\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"COLOR: black\"><span face=\"Times New Roman\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"COLOR: black\"><span face=\"Times New Roman\">Second, <strong><em>everyone<\/em><\/strong> who tries these cookies asks me for the recipe. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"COLOR: black\"><\/p>\n<p><span face=\"Times New Roman\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"COLOR: black\"><span face=\"Times New Roman\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"COLOR: black\"><span face=\"Times New Roman\">And third, these cookies always bring a smile to my face, not only for the taste, but because they have become a staple of so many of our family and church gatherings.&nbsp; &nbsp;Even the smell of them baking in the oven invokes wonderful memories of crisp, fall &quot;tailgating&quot; picnics at many of my son&#8217;s football games.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"COLOR: black\"><\/p>\n<p><span face=\"Times New Roman\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"COLOR: black\"><span face=\"Times New Roman\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"COLOR: black\"><span face=\"Times New Roman\">1 cup canola oil<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"COLOR: black\"><span face=\"Times New Roman\">1\/2 cup sugar<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"COLOR: black\"><span face=\"Times New Roman\">1 cup brown sugar<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"COLOR: black\"><span face=\"Times New Roman\">2 eggs<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"COLOR: black\"><span face=\"Times New Roman\">2 cups plus 4 tbs. flour<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"COLOR: black\"><span face=\"Times New Roman\">1 tsp. baking soda<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"COLOR: black\"><span face=\"Times New Roman\">1 tsp. salt<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"COLOR: black\"><span face=\"Times New Roman\">1 cup nuts<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"COLOR: black\"><span face=\"Times New Roman\">1 package milk chocolate chips<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"COLOR: black\"><span face=\"Times New Roman\">approx. 1\/2 cup white chocolate chips<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"COLOR: black\"><\/p>\n<p><span face=\"Times New Roman\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"COLOR: black\"><span face=\"Times New Roman\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"COLOR: black\"><span face=\"Times New Roman\">Mix oil, sugar, brown sugar and eggs.&nbsp; In separate bowl mix flour, baking soda, and salt; then add to the oil, sugar and egg mixture.&nbsp; Stir in nuts and the milk chocolate chips.&nbsp; Drop by teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet.&nbsp; Gently push 3 &#8211; 5 white chocolate chips into the tops of each unbaked cookie, avoiding direct contact with the baking sheet.
