Gift shop pitches in to equip kids for school<\/a><\/p>\n

BERKLEY \u2014 As the laid back summer days come to an end, many families worry about finding the funds to purchase school supplies.<\/p>\n

Inspired
\nto ease their woes, gift shop owner April McCrumb is offering a chance
\nfor her customers and the public to donate school supplies for
\nlow-income kids.<\/p>\n

The gift gallery is giving out gourmet scented
\npencils in exchange for new school supplies, which will be distributed
\nto local families in need. Anyone who wants to donate can put their
\npaper, pencils, pens, facial tissues, scissors, tape, glue, etc. into
\nthe drop box at Catching Fireflies.<\/p>\n

Remembering how fun it was to go shopping for new school supplies,
\nMcCrumb thought it would be great to encourage kids to help pick out an
\nextra backpack or notebook for families that don\u2019t have the luxury of
\nfilling up a shopping cart of goods.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost of the school goods
\nwe carry at our store are fun, but not essential, and we feel it\u2019s
\nimportant to keep that in perspective,\u201d McCrumb says. \u201cWe hope to fill
\nup over 10 of these boxes by the end of August.\u201d<\/p>\n

Catching
\nFireflies will be collecting new backpacks, pencils, pens, markers,
\nhighlighters, kid scissors, notebooks, folders, binders, rulers, thumb
\ndrives, index cards, tissues, hand sanitizer, planners and pencil
\npouches from the community during the month of August and will turn
\nthem over to the Judson Center for distribution.<\/p>\n

\u201cKids love our line of scented pencils, erasers and pens,\u201d McCrumb said.<\/p>\n
