Since our sister store, Yellow Door Art Market<\/a> celebrated their first birthday last weekend, it was only appropriate to make yellow treats for all our party goers.<\/p>\n

After a few searches on Pinterest<\/a> I decided on these pretties<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

They received rave reviews by all who indulged so next time you’re craving a mix of citrus & sweet, you may want to whip up a batch…<\/p>\n

Lemon Cake:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1 box lemon cake mix<\/div>\n
1 cup sour cream<\/div>\n
\u00bc cup fresh lemon juice<\/div>\n
\u00bd cup milk<\/div>\n
\u00be cup oil<\/div>\n
4 eggs<\/div>\n
Zest of 1 lemon<\/div>\n
1 small box lemon instant pudding mix<\/div>\n
Cream Cheese Frosting:<\/strong><\/div>\n
8 oz cream cheese<\/div>\n
\u00bd cup butter<\/div>\n
\u00bc cup sour cream<\/div>\n
3 \u00bd cups sugar<\/div>\n
1 tablespoon honey (optional)<\/div>\n
1 teaspoon vanilla extract<\/div>\n

Directions:<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line muffins tins with 24 regular or 60 mini cupcake liners.<\/div>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In a large bowl, mix sour cream, lemon juice, milk and oil together.<\/div>\n
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n
Add eggs one at a time until fully incorporated.<\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n
3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Add zest, cake mix, and pudding mix slowly while stirring.<\/div>\n

4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fill cupcake liners 2\/3 full and bake for 12-14 (minis)-18-20 (regulars) minutes or until an inserted knife comes out clean.<\/div>\n

5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Frosting: Beat cream cheese and butter until light and fluffy.<\/div>\n
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n
Add powdered sugar slowly.\u00a0 Add sour cream, honey and vanilla and beat well.\u00a0 Add more powdered sugar if needed for desired taste or consistency.<\/div>\n

Gus agreed that the frosting tasted very very good.<\/div>\n

I piped little stars on each cupcake & topped them off with a lemonhead & some yellow sprinkles.<\/div>\n

120 cupcakes later – they were ready to head to the party.<\/div>\n

We had a good amount of frosting left over & it was far too delicious to waste so Tessa had the brilliant idea of dipping pretzels in it.\u00a0 SO SO VERY DELICIOUS!<\/div>\n
