Throughout October, <strong>Catching<\/strong> <strong>Fireflies<\/strong> is giving out a free &quot;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.catchingfirefliesgifts.com\/products\/pink-posi%252bivi%252by%E2%84%A2-bracelets-%252d-set-of-3.html\" target=\"_blank\">Positivity&quot; bracelet<\/a> to any woman or man whose life has been touched by breast cancer. <br \/><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"arial, helvetica\" size=\"-1\"><font face=\"arial, helvetica\" size=\"-1\">In return, all McCrumb asks is that the customers provide some<br \/>\nencouraging words online at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shareyourpositivity.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.shareyourpositivity.org<\/a>, because as<br \/>\nshe pointed out, optimism is contagious. &quot;If you don&#39;t have hope or<br \/>\npositivity in dire situations, life can be pretty sad,&quot; McCrumb said.<br \/>\n&quot;These bracelets are a subtle reminder to people that staying positive<br \/>\nis half the battle, because it&#39;s really easy to let negativity take<br \/>\ncontrol.&quot; In addition, McCrumb and her staff put together an uplifting<br \/>\nselection of pink-ribbon-themed items including art pieces,<br \/>\ninspirational quote books, flying wish paper, journals and soap. Most<br \/>\nof the products are intended for women who have been affected by breast<br \/>\ncancer. <br \/><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p><span size=\"-1\" style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica;\"><font face=\"arial, helvetica\" size=\"-1\">&quot;It can be hard to find gifts to give people beyond just kind words,&quot; McCrumb explained. <br \/><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"arial, helvetica\" size=\"-1\"><font face=\"arial, helvetica\" size=\"-1\">&quot;Hopefully, with these items, people can express their feelings for<br \/>\nloved ones going through hard times and help lift their spirits.&quot;<br \/>\nMcCrumb also wanted to find a local nonprofit group that is helping in<br \/>\nthe fight against breast cancer. She soon discovered the Bloomfield<br \/>\nHills-based organization <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thepinkfund.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">the Pink Fund<\/a> and formed a partnership in<br \/>\nwhich 20 percent of all pink-ribbon proceeds at <strong>Catching<\/strong> <strong>Fireflies<\/strong> will go toward providing financial aid for women and men suffering from the disease. <br \/><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"arial, helvetica\" size=\"-1\"><font face=\"arial, helvetica\" size=\"-1\">&quot;<strong>Catching<\/strong> <strong>Fireflies<\/strong><br \/>\nis doing a really great thing,&quot; said Molly MacDonald, founder and<br \/>\npresident of the Pink Fund. &quot;I thought that April&#39;s mission to support<br \/>\nus over the whole year and not just in October was very kind and<br \/>\ngenerous. <br \/><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"arial, helvetica\" size=\"-1\"><font face=\"arial, helvetica\" size=\"-1\">We&#39;re delighted to work with her on this.&quot; The Pink Fund was<br \/>\nestablished in October 2006, borne out of MacDonald&#39;s own personal<br \/>\nexperiences with breast cancer and the financial difficulties that<br \/>\nfollowed. <br \/><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"arial, helvetica\" size=\"-1\"><font face=\"arial, helvetica\" size=\"-1\">To help others who are facing similar struggles, the Pink Fund provides<br \/>\nshort-term monetary support for breast cancer patients, who often<br \/>\ncannot work while they undergo expensive medical treatment and a long<br \/>\nrecovery process. <br \/><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"arial, helvetica\" size=\"-1\"><font face=\"arial, helvetica\" size=\"-1\">&quot;We just want to help people out for a brief period, so they can resume<br \/>\ntheir normal life,&quot; Mac-Donald explained. &quot;We try to fill in the gaps<br \/>\nnot covered by other nonprofits in the breast cancer world. When you<br \/>\ntalk to these recipients and you hear the gratitude in their voice, you<br \/>\nknow that you&#39;ve done an amazing thing for them.&quot; McCrumb was thrilled<br \/>\nto be a part of that endeavor, and she wanted to further show her<br \/>\nappreciation for those raising money for the cause. After contacting<br \/>\nthe American Cancer Society, she decided to team up with organizers<br \/>\nfrom its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cancer.org\/docroot\/par\/PAR_2_Making_Strides_Against_Breast_Cancer.asp\" target=\"_blank\">Making Strides Against Breast Cancer<\/a> event to donate 30<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.catchingfirefliesgifts.com\/products\/%27friends-for-life%27-simple-statement-frame.html\" target=\"_blank\">&quot;Friends for Life&quot; picture frames<\/a> to the top fundraising team members<br \/>\nduring the Oct. 10 walk at Belle Isle. <br \/><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n<p><span size=\"-1\" style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica;\"><font face=\"arial, helvetica\" size=\"-1\">Together, all these efforts at <strong>Catching<\/strong> <strong>Fireflies<\/strong> illustrate the store&#39;s goal this October and year round:to paint the town pink with positivity. <br \/><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"arial, helvetica\" size=\"-1\"><font face=\"arial, helvetica\" size=\"-1\">&quot;Our store specializes in making days brighter,&quot; McCrumb said, &quot;so this<br \/>\nfit right in line with what we&#39;re all about.
