  1. I love how our Basset Hound, Gus will start howling (even if he’s in a dead sleep) during the trumpet opening of the t.v. show – CBS Sunday Morning. I can’t help to laugh every time:) I always keep one episode cued up on Tivo just in case I need a little lift.

  2. I love how Max, a Shorkie, has replaced my need for an alarm clock. 6am on the dot every morning, Max begins “bathing” himself. His morning bath is my alarm clock.

  3. I love how my little Sammy girl, an eight pound shitzu manages to pull the queen comforter off of the bed to bury herself in it and snuggle up. She is just so cuddly and cute…a pure doll all the way!

  4. I LOVE how our two beagles Bella and Eevee “smile” and dance around the room when we get home…..can’t think of a better way to end the work day!!!

  5. I love all animals. I am a pet sitter so I definitely get enjoyment out of my job! All the dogs and cats have so many different personalities and little quirks. They are all special in their own way:)

  6. I love our little Lily ( or Lily Bottoms as we affectionately call her) because she gives us so much love, and we can help her with opening things since she doesn’t have opposable thumbs, and really, really wants them!

  7. I love my chocolate lab because at the end of the day, no matter what the day has held for me or my hubby, all that matters in the world is her ball. Life should be so simple!

  8. I love Maizey, our 5mo old golden retriever because as soon as I walk in the door she snuggles her head into my lap for a good 2 mintues before I let her outside. Her sweetness melts my heart everytime!

  9. I love my boxer Tahoe because he thinks that everyone who comes to our house is there to see him and only him. He will kiss, snort on, lick, sit on and totally annoy that person until they cave and give him their undivided attention. He’s the best!

  10. I love that no matter how stressful my day at work has been my buddy Lucky greets me at the door and takes me out of myself to the present and we share some quality time…it’s an instant destress!

  11. I love how our chocolate lab, Lucy, is a fighter for life. Five years ago, she got hit by a car and had a crushed hip bone, broken ribs, and fluid in her lungs. The doctors didn’t expect her to make it through the night, but after one week of healing, they were able to perform surgery. And today, on her 9th birthday, even though she has no feeling in her right rear leg, she still loves to chase her tennis ball as if she were still a puppy!

  12. My fur-baby Kirby is a little stinker but he makes us laugh every day! My husband wasn’t his favorite fan when I first got him but they have become inseperable. He’s always either curled up on our laps or right by our side. He truly enriches our lives with his love!

  13. We love our German Shepherd, Shannon, she is the light of our life, she watches out for me when my husband’s at work and loves her belly rubs as much as we do giving them.

  14. Gracie Grace and Oscar Grace known as G2 and the Big “O” are our two little dachshunds (one a toy and one a mini) that have captured our hearts and souls. We love their individual personalities – Gracie believes she is a big dog and takes to barking at most every big dog she sees, and Oscar is like a little old man with his waddle and sometimes whimper. Both are already signed up for the Mega March – short legs rule for a big walk!

  15. Jake & Harley (American bulldog & lab mix, 100lbs. each, brother & sister– adopted)(my Mom nicknamed them Jacob Bartholomew & Harlequin Elizabeth… she really wants Grandkids :)They think they’re 10lb. lap dogs, we have a list of over 50 words they know, they’re hilarious, cute, snuggly & so much fun! They’ll be 8 Sept. 20th… we make them Steak & Cake!!!! We think they’re really human– Love them like crazy!

  16. My yellow lab, blind from cataracts and almost 12 is still the most loveable cuddling 85 pound lap dog one could ever want. He could use a helmet sometimes for all the head bumps he incurs. My golden retriever, almost six, is the smartest cookie on the block. Both dogs never talk back and bring sensational love at all times. If you want unconditional love, have a dog.

  17. We love our sons’ Lab/Pit bull mix – he’s in bootcamp right now so she is missing him as much as we are…..she keeps us going by having to walk her in his absence. When we mention his name she looks around to see him or runs into his room looking for him. I’m sure she will attack him with kisses when he returns in October! Semper Fi!!

  18. Sorry, forgot to mention – I also have a another dog that I love! Lola the Chihuahua-what a duo her and our sons’ Lab/Pit bull (Leia) make. We get quite a few smiles during our walks!

  19. My ten year old Golden, Scout, is the best dog in the world. She is well behaved, loveable, great with children and has taken her backseat roll to my two girls in stride over the last 5 years, she’s the best!

  20. I love my Black Lab Tiki. She gives her unconditional love to everyone she meets. She is also a Therapy dog and we go to Hospitals and Nursing Homes and she puts her front paws on the patients beds and brings them lots of love. It’s all about sharing the love!

  21. I love our 60+ pound rescue dog Luna because she is convinced she’s a dainty little lapdog, and is always trying to get cozy on someone’s lap.

  22. Our lovable lab, Lucy, is also a rescue dog. She’s been like one of my children, and the kindest, sweetest dog a person could ever ask for, for about 12 years. She’s survived 4 children, I say survive as any dog owner with children knows- kids will dress the dog up, cover it with blankets, chase it when its tired and really wants a nap, etc. But not once has she snapped or shown any ill will towards any of them. In fact, she is the first to lay beside them when they need a friend or just some TLC. She has such a beautiful soul. If we could all be this kind and forgiving.

  23. I love my dogs because they can always cheer me or the kids up. They are Rat Terriers & both rescue dogs. They are very mischievous (and I suspect by their “laughing” often up to something!).

  24. I can’t help but love our 4 legged “fur-babies” as we call them. They are always happy and spread joy all around!

  25. Our lab/pit bull mix, Joey, puts a smile on my face when he pulls his toy bin out and selects a toy to play with. We love when he watches television, which is something our previous dog never seemed to do. He’s always eager to go places with us, too!

  26. I just adore my dog Griwold, a bichon frise. He always digs his nails into my chest and gives the biggest hugs. He then rolls over and loves to receive tummy rubs.

  27. all 5 of our rescues give us unconditional love and a lot of shed fur. It’s so worth it. The cats’ purrs are so calming that you can forget the three of them just raced thru the house and knocked a lamp over. The 2 dogs are eager to get out (and away from the dang cats)and go for a walk- also great for calming the humans. We are lucky to be owned by Onyx, Nava, Cooper, Jinx & Gonzo. The dogs will also be walking 10/4. The cats, eh, not so much.

  28. I love CoCo Chanel (call her CC), because she has such a human personality. It is just the two of us, and she does cute antics like sit in my lap; rear up on her hind legs and lays her head on my right breast and take a deep sigh and goes to sleep. I just laugh and for all the hatred in the world, it doesn’t get better than those moments.

  29. I’m a petsitter and so I have the rare opportunity to schmooze with a lot of different animals. It is an insight into why these animals have chosen the particular family that they did (yes, folks, they chose YOU!)and the role they are playing. Service is at the top of their list and I seem to play a role of “server to the Server”. I love how it all intertwines!

  30. Pets are like children, so of course you love them. Even though our dog is quite annoying, we still love her. We also have a cat. He is the cutest when he plays.

  31. Our Fudge gets into all kinds of trouble, but we LOVE him deeply! All we can do is laugh when we see what he’s done and you never know what that will be!!

  32. I love my chi, Gabby, who gives me kisses every time I ask for one! She’s been with me over 10 years now and we are bonded so tight we can almost read each other’s mind!!! She’s a little chocolate Tootsy Roll!

  33. My adorable pound puppy, Barkley, is always sooooo happy to wake me and greet me each day! When I have a horrible day, seeing his smiling face and wagging tail makes it all go away. He always gives me love, even when he is battling onsets of pancreatitis. I love and treasure him!

  34. I love both my English Setter rescue dogs Jolene and Trey as if they were my children. They give me joy from sun up to sun down. If I ever have a worry I just love on them and it goes away. When I’m walking them everyone comments on how beautiful they are, but doesn’t know what breed they are. They guess a dalmation or springer.

  35. My family loves our 13 year old(no one believes it) black lab, Bear. I’ve never had a dog with more character. He runs our house and gets everything he wants-including a 2 mile walk every day. Our spoiled pup always shows his appreciation and love by jumping on top of us and nudging away anything to keep us from petting him. He nudged himself right into our hearts.

  36. Our 85 pound, one-of-a-kind (aka mutt), Jake, deserves some kind of super special award. Every day he lovingly endures the attention (and “abuse”) of our toddler, Katie. Jake happily cleans up food messes from her and tolerates her version of petting. He gives her kisses and lays next to her on the floor. Bless his huge heart each day and every day. He is the best dog ever and we tell him so often!

  37. My dog Jessie is a sweetheart! She was the first of two rescues I adopted. She came shy and skitish after being abused and while she’ll never be as carefree as some dogs, seeing her break free from her shell for moments, running, playing and rolling like other dogs brings a deep joy and happiness to my heart.

  38. I love all my animals, I have 2 labs and a cat. I never was a cat person until on my birthday my sons and husband decided I needed a cat. She has become my best friend but not only that she know when I am ill she will stay by my side. I have numerous health problems so she always knew when I was getting sick before me. She will lay the whole time I am sick then when I am better she will go on her way. I love my cat Abby and now understand her when she is sick and needs me. It is a true friendship, we are closer than anywone I know.

  39. Our miniature dachshund is always there to greet me when I get home from work. No matter how hard of a day I have, I know he will be super excited to see me!

  40. My golden retriever “Mori” was the absolute best dog! She was the most loyal and well behaved dog, plus the most beautiful! She loved to swim, play catch and her most favorite thing to do was “lounge” golden girl style. I recently lost her to her golden years and miss her greatly. Her best “dog” friend, “Chico” our 1 year old chihuahua had pick up traits of hers I didn’t even notice before – she taught him things I never could have. A dog is a gift from above. Having a dog greet you when you arrive home is the absolute greatest feeling in the world!!

  41. I love our Rusty. He loves to take a walk. I say the word and off he goes to the hallway where his leash is hanging. Then while we are walking he always looks back at me periodically as if to say,”are you still there Mom?”, even though I am still at the other end of the leash!

  42. Our rescue dog, Abby (Abbagirl)of 8 months has given us a new deminsion in our busy lives. She’s a black lab mixed with begal and in this short time, her spirit and sweet personality has emerged and is in full blossom. She is highly intelligent and loves to communicate, which is something she had never had in her mystery other life. She wants to please us in every way and loves people and other pooches and embraces each new experience we give her. We’ve always had dogs and they all have been special, but Abby’s compelling eyes look deeply into ours every day to say “thank you” for saving me and giving me my forever home. She is truly a blessing in our lives.

  43. We love Samson, our Lhasalier, for making our family complete, as my daughter announced. He is so affectionate and gives so much love!!

  44. when my husband of 37 years died, my 2 dogs, Alice a Lab and Arnold a Boxer, were there for me. they let me laugh and cry and hug them. they are my companions and security. I couldn’t ask for anything more.

  45. My cat, Eden, truly is a Dog stuck in a cat’s body!! He is a beautiful, furry himalayan with the most extroverted personality I’ve seen in a feline. Any time a friend comes to the door, he is at the window, peeking over the sill to see who he gets to greet as they walk through the door. Friends love to have Eden come cuddle with them when they visit!

  46. We adore our two French hounds, Brie and Clouseau because they make us laugh on a daily basis. Perfect example — on the rare occasion we give them rawhide bones, Clouie will chew on his for a bit, then decide to save the rest for later. He will take the bone and shove it in between the couch cushions and use his snout to sweep “invisible” dirt over it to conceal it from his sister. But he is so worried she will find it, he pulls it back out and repeats this for 10 minuted or so in furniture all over the house, until reaching the conclusion there is no hope and he must finish his treat. What a riot!

  47. I love all four of my furry kids (1 cat, Sam, 1 Jack Russell, Fred, and 1 Jack Russell/Rat Terrier, Jack). I just love spoiling them and they give me so much love in return. I am marching in the October 4 march with Team Camp Bow Wow.

  48. I love my German Shorthairs! Through thick and thin, they are my most favorite dogs, even thought they have managed to eat a bag of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups (the small Christmas ones), lots of food off of the counter…including fresh pie and bread…that tends to be the favorite, and oh, let’s not forget my father’s hearing aids! No matter how much crazy stuff they manage to get into, they are the most beautifully intelligent dogs that I have ever had and are full of love for my entire family!

  49. Our dogs Annie and Sophie (the best of many breeds, but mostly lab and beagle) make us smile every day. They give us unconditional love and affection. Who else would lick our faces in the morning before we’ve even brushed our teeth?!

  50. We love Bailey because he is the best puppy in the whole world and he makes everyday more happy! Everyone loves him! Even people scared of dogs.

  51. Watson is our dachshund puppy. He’s 5lbs and only 12 weeks old. This little guy has made a BIG impact on our family. He loves to wake each of us every morning with tons of kisses and he ‘sings’ along when my son practices saxophone. His unique beagle-like coloring garners him attention wherever we go and submits to pets, cooing and random strangers photographing him with dignity. His puppy escapades keep us laughing. We’ve drawn closer as a family as we take turns with ‘Watson-duty’.

  52. Our dog, Lily, just turned a year old. She is SO smart, she never fails to amaze us. We like to play hide-and-seek with her. By far my favorite thing is to be greeted when I get home from work with a wagging body (not just a tail!). It makes it tough to leave the house sometimes.

  53. I belong to Greta and Nigel. Whether I’m gone all day or out for 2 minutes getting the mail, I get the same frenzied, trainer failed, ridiculously over-excited greeting when I walk through the door.
Who wouldn’t love to feel that appreciated?

  54. I love Red Magic my Irish Setter. He really is magical. He knows how I am feeling and acts accordingly. If I am having a bad day and am in a lot of pain, he quietly snuggles up wherever I am. If I am not in too much pain, then he is a full blown red headed, stubborn, Irish, terror bouncing off the walls and pouncing on all his toys.
Life is so much more worth while since he came into it. The day I rescued him, I actually rescued myself! He makes it easy to face every day.

  55. There is no dog sweeter that our puggle, Eli. He has over-the-top patience, love, playfullness and snug-ability. Our “little” lap dog (a crazy 45 pounds) lays all stretched out on my husband (in the recliner) with his arms around my husbands chest and eyes glued to him waiting for an ort. His favorite treat is a bonz and he will do anything to get one.

  56. I love the way my dog, Kota, keeps my feet warm at night. He likes to snuggle up close to my feet and keeps me nice and cozy all night long!

  57. I am so happy that I adopted my Springer, Quincy, through the English Springer Rescue Association – Michigan Chapter just over a year ago! It seems like he’s always been in my life….he knows when I need a snuggle, laugh, or time on the trail. The best companion is one who gives unconditionally….otherwise known as a canine companion! Yeah for doggies!

  58. After 3 years living alone, I decided I needed a friend to come home to. That is when I got Lucy from a local no-kill animal shelter. Lucy is a beagle mix and I named her after my favorite author, Lucy Maud Montgomery. I love being able to take walks with her and love her, but I always have to sneak up to bed because if I don’t, she rushes up and stretches out on the middle, which leaves me no room. How a 20 pound dog can take up the entire bed is beyond me!!
