recycled firefly

One of the many things I'm thankful for is friends who encourage me to be creative just because.  It's really easy for me to get wrapped up into doing things solely for work so when I got the invite from my friend Michelle to participate in an artist ornament exchange, I accepted the challenge and came up with this silly character

Firefly1

I gathered up some burnt-out retro Christmas light bulbs. colorful wire, assorted beads and handmade paper.  After shaping & sizing the wire wings & beaded eyes, I removed them so I could hot glue paper to the wings. Then after cutting around the edge of the wings, I reassembled the 3 parts and wired them together & reinforced them with hot glue.

After adding a beaded hanger, I packed them up to send off to the other 7 participating artists (2 of them in Norway!)  When I receive all the other ornaments, I'll share their creative works with you.  Wishing you a bright & merry holiday season!
