2010 MHS Mega March

2010 MHS Mega March
It was a sunny, yet chilly day for our 5th Annual Mega March Walk.  Thanks to our generous firefly fans, we were able to raise $750 to help our furry friends find forever homes!  Since the temp was a bit nippy… lots-o-dogs were sporting their stylish winter-wear;) It's not everyday you see doggy leg warmers! This gal has to be Dumbos long lost cousin… don't you think? Nothing like a gurgling fountain of water .

Okay, the last post about our few days in North Carolina… We enjoyed delicious meals & treats at Double Decker Coffee Company, Salsa’s, Early Girl Eatery,  & Mellow Mushroom We met a few other members that are part of Piper’s club.  Ahhh, the life of living at a store;) The store, L.O.F.T (lost objects-found treasures) set up an outside shop for the Bel Chere Festival.  I was uber impressed with their efforts… quite the .

As I mentioned in my previous post, Steve & I took a detour after the Atlanta Gift Show & perused the wonderful art that Asheville offered up at the Bel Chere Festival.  Since I visit many Michigan art shows throughout the summer, it was fun exploring a fresh set of talented guys & gals.  Here are a few of my favorites… Moni Hill (my friend Karen Fincannon has a cute collection of her work .

Instead of flying to participate in the Atlanta gift show this summer, we thought it would be fun to make a road trip out of it & visit some friends in the area… one of the them being the lovely Karen Fincannon (and her humorous husband, Paul;) We got to tour through her studio which is behind her house… In my opinion, her talent is limitless.  She clearly get’s bored easily and is always .

For the first time in a long while, I got to attend the Plymouth Art Fair.  Normally Steve & I are always at the Atlanta Gift show during the dates, but since there are 5 weekends in July… it didn't overlap this year. So, my 1st stop was Heart to Heart.  I bought one of thier fantastic bird house stakes a few years ago and my mom always comments how she loves it.  And .

I made a stop by Northville this weekend for the Art in the Sun show and stumbled upon this out-of-the-box photographer…   Talk about an orignal family portrait!  She takes over 1000 photos of your family then assembles an large collage by layering hundreds of the shots to create a very whimsical scene that's unforgettable. Since Hour Detroit Magazine voted us Best Gift Shop, we thought a little celebration was in order.  So as lovely as it would be to whisk our team away to the Caribbean… we managed to take a trip to Bahama Breeze for fruity drinks & island appetizers;)

2 Ann Arbor shops not to miss

2 Ann Arbor shops not to miss
I got away to one of my favorite cities last weekend and need to let you know about 2 fabulous shops that are a bit off the beaten path of Main Street. First off, Heavenly Metal… The sassy owner, Vicki & her queen pooch, Lucy have a great eye for artful goodies.  And the way they're displayed… so inviting.   And did I mention Vicki also cuts hair in this charming space?  A portion .

Even though I live less than a mile away from this unassuming little pastry shop, I made my way through  Le Petit Prince's doors for the first time this weekend.   I indulged in a butterlicious cherry turnover and Steve scored a couple cookies but I have to say I was most impressed by their artistic chocolate creations. I could hardly bear to eat these delightful sculptures, but I do recommend you pay a visit .

a sunny afternoon at pinwheel bakery

a sunny afternoon at pinwheel bakery
I was lucky enough to take an extra long lunch last Friday and catch up with my artist friend, Siouxsan Miller.  We met up at the lovely Pinwheel Bakery in Ferndale – which we both agreed, if we owned a bakery… this is what it would look like. Aren't these Valentine windows so sweet?   I had the tasty Mediterranean Mix sandwich for lunch and selected a key lime bar for dessert while Siouxsan .
