jim gaffigan is coming to town

jim gaffigan is coming to town
Steve & I stumbled upon Mr. Gaffigan while channel surfing earlier this year and caught a glimpse of his show, King Baby on Comedy Central.  I'm not one to laugh out loud at t.v. shows, but Jim managed to get me giggling pretty good.  So when we saw he was swinging by our way this summer we snagged a few tickets and can't wait to see his act in person at Meadowbrook next Friday. .

I'm slightly embarrassed to say that I've never been to the Cranbrook Gardens.  So instead of spending Sunday weeding my own neglected garden, I convinced Steve to peddle our way over to Lone Pine Road for an afternoon adventure. All the gardens were gorgeous and I love all the water fountains & ponds throughout the landscape… makes for a very peaceful sounding environment.  Plus on our bike ride to and from we passed by .

Finally got to the theater this weekend to see this delightful film.  I dragged Steve with me (even though it's a bit of a girly movie)… but he ended up liking it and I loved it – especially the music. I mean who can resist a Hall & Oates inspired dance scene – complete with a cartoon bluebird!? I swear these 80's hipsters have some of the catchiest tunes around! I also dig the .

Before heading up north to Petoskey to sell my handmade paper goods in an art fair this past weekend, I managed to squeeze in a few hours touring through this year's Ann Arbor art fair on Friday.  Here are some new artists I discovered… Suze Ford painting to please the soul, the mind and the eye, but not the ego Weener Ware kitschy jewelry, hair clips, cuff links and more Metro Devious – see .

One surprise about our last Atlanta trip was that our hotel was right next door to Buckhead Church.  I couldn't believe it, since I listen to the pastor's podcasts on a regular basis.  So we actually got to attend the Sunday evening service after the gift show. I also realized he even has his own YouTube channel that features very relatable messages about worry, marriage, finances and more.  I personally find Andy Stanley's teachings .

One of the benefits of visiting Atlanta twice a year (besides buying loads of snazzy new goodies for catching fireflies) is we get to see our artist friends, Karen & Paul Fincannon.  This time around I got to visit them at the Buckhead Farmer's Market. I love Karen's wide collection of whimsical wares.  She's always creating something new… her latest collection being these quirky & oh-so-endearing dogs.  And lucky for you, she offers some .

an art filled weekend

an art filled weekend
Our holiday weekend was a-buzzin' with art fans from Illinois, Indiana, Ohio & Michigan.  I finally had a good reason to wear my circle-sequin skirt I bought on clearance a few years back… but I wasn't the only festive one in Saugatuck on the fourth.  About halfway through the day, I thought it'd be fun to capture some of the patriotic flavor of the afternoon. (you should have seen the ones I missed in .

To celebrate being voted best gift shop for the third time in a row by Hour Detroit readers, we indulged in some delicious desserts and marvelous martinis at the Melting Pot.   We had a lovely time dipping & sipping all the sweet treats.  And upon hearing about our win, our generous waitress brought out a round of champagne… how thoughtful! So cheers to another wonderful year of making days brighter.

a sunny soiree

The little neighborhood party we dreamed-up a couple weeks ago turned out to be quite the swingin' Sunday afternoon.  Our neighbors brought lots of sweet treats and tasty snacks to munch on which made it a breeze to host.  We just provided the beverages & backyard and in return  we got to visit with the neighbors we already knew, plus met quite a few new faces from around the block.   If you haven't had a chance to get-to-know your neighbors or it's been a .

an ann arbor afternoon

an ann arbor afternoon
Since planting flowers & power-washing the deck was on Memorial-Day-Monday's to-do list, we took a Sunday jaunt down to Ann Arbor.  It had been a while since we visited the place where it all started for a.i. paper design – at the Ann Arbor Artisan Market.  Love walking down memory lane and seeing what new artists are selling their wares on a Sunday afternoon.  It's fun to think that I was at one of those tables .
