‘say it with letters’ design project

‘say it with letters’ design project
One of our firefly fans was kind enough to invite me to participate in a design project involving shapes & letters she sells on her etsy site.  So about a month or two ago, this snazzy shape arrived in my mailbox… I have to say, sea shells are not my forte… so I decided to turn it upside down and then envisioned a splashy party dress. And with some bright handmade papers mixed with .

send a little love

send a little love
Every year I like to send a little something to all my gal friends for Valentine’s Day. This year I whipped up some simply painted wooden postcards from discontinued boards I had around the design studio.   Afterwords, I glued a couple patterned paper hearts…   tied on a velvet ribbon and glued some paper on the back to write a lovely Valentine message.  Then I popped them in the mail as is.  I hope these colorful cards will .

oh-so-sweet houses

oh-so-sweet houses
Steve & I were invited to a creative Christmas party over the weekend and had a jolly good time.  The gracious host made up a bunch of graham cracker houses and icing ahead of time and our job was to bring candy to bling out our homes. Our houses were glued together by melting straight sugar in a pan (stirring constantly) and dipping the edges in, then sticking them to the base or sides .

Another clever craft from Miss Martha’s elves! My friend has been busy creating these cute gems for Christmas.  All you need is some buttons, wire and a bead or two and you’ve got some sweet gift toppers for your treats under the tree. Thanks Anna for sharing your crafty skills. Do you get extra crafty at Christmas-time?  If so, we’d love to hear what you’re working on… just leave a comment below. (click HERE .

Getting the mail is always fun come December.  Everyday I get to see new photos of friends & family and read stories about what they’ve been up to.  Instead of leaving them in a pile, I bought this handy candy cane clip cord last year at the store (we don’t have them this year) – but we do have these cheerful snowmen and their snazzy scarves do the same trick. Oh how I love the classic Christmas crafts!  Talk about a candy cane with some personality.  These guys would be cute package toppers, or fun to hand out at the office or classroom. And a tasty treat for your favorite neighborhood birds… also a neat handmade gift for the kids to give grandma & grandpa. And these ornaments are for the dogs… literally.  But you better hang them high to avoid any possible Christmas .

The month of December is always an exciting time for the kiddies as the countdown to Christmas begins!  One fun way mark the days is with this really cute reusable advent calendar for $12.50. Or if you’re feeling more crafty this goody bag garland I found at Kids Craft Weekly is a festive way to lead up to the big day! You can jazz up some lunch bags with a simple potato stamp and .

Looking to create last-minute whimsical table decorations for the big turkey day? Just pull out your scissors, glue and recycling and you’re set to go!  Who knew cereal boxes could be so stylish? You could stick these fellows into a plant, centerpiece (make a bunch for an all turkey centerpiece), bowl of candy or cranberries, your baked sweet potatoes or make small ones for napkin rings. For complete instructions on how to make these .

Love this idea for Thanksgiving. It’d be great to do with your kids throughout the month, or create one with your family & friends on Thanksgiving day. 1. Draw leaf shapes on colored construction paper, or download leaf templates and then trace on to colored construction paper. 2. Lay the paper on a covered work surface, then spray water over both sides so the whole surface is damp. Crumple the paper into a loose .
