positive picketing

positive picketing
I remember reading a marketing article about a restaurant who hired a bunch of people to picket in front of their location… but instead of the signs being negative – they ranted about how great the place was and got some great press because of it… quite clever. Well, I couldn't quite convince our firefly gals to take it to the streets, however our sassy store mannequins are happy to spread the word.

giant easter eggs & painted posies

giant easter eggs & painted posies
Yeah… it's March 1st!  And we can't wait for posies to start peeking up through the ground so we painted our own garden – complete with cute clouds and a paper lantern sun.   And we had so much fun with our giant hearts for Valentine's Day, we replaced them with enormous painted eggs - ready for Easter… although, these would be tough to hide.

super fly anthropologie windows

super fly anthropologie windows
I know why I am so amazed by Anthropologie windows… it's because they always take everyday things like cupcake liners, newspapers, teacups, books, berry baskets and so on, then transform them into fantastic displays like this one.  If you look carefully you'll see these plastic bags turning into birds.   And soaring on to the next window…   All these pics were taken at the Rockefeller location in NYC this past January.   It's hard .

valentines… super sized

valentines… super sized
Now, wouldn't it be fun to find a giant 3 foot Valentine on your front porch or office cube?  I cut these large hearts out of pink insulation sheets you can find at any Home Depot.  Just trim them with a fun edge, write a sweet message to your favorite friend or mate and surprise them just because. The smallest acts of thoughtfulness (well in this case, not so small) can leave the biggest impressions on one's life.  .

The leaves haven’t quite started changing colors yet, but with the help of some tempera paint, carved-up boxes and some 7ft tree trunks…  Viola!  A whimsical  forest of festive colors. Ahhhh…pumpkin love

under the sea with anthropologie

under the sea with anthropologie
Back in New York City for the summer gift show and you know what that means (well, new goodies for the stores) but also – Anthropologie windows…. They have this sea-scape shell-barnacle theme going on and all of them are made from a large variety of cupcake-like liners. … a close-up of these shell-like pretties … small strips of sheet-like material create a calm ocean-scape background for these delightful outfits … love this one .

art installations… oh – I mean anthropologie windows
I can’t visit nyc without perusing the Anthropologie windows near Rockefeller Center. Each of the days are represented by white apples… some chewed – some not. This gigantic bee hive is created from newspaper pages.  It’s quite funny with all the b’s buzzing around it. All these random items have lovely wings.  Who knew fruit bowls could fly? Cup of t anyone? … until August my pretties!
